Quick update from Sarah Jack who is project managing the Barrington Court renewable heating project. How would you go about removing the old oil boilers from the cellar of a listed building? Bear in mind access is down a ladder on a daily basis! Over to you Sarah:
“Until this week, Barrington Court was one of the biggest oil users in the South West region using 34,000 litres of oil every year. Yesterday was a significant day for the property as two oil boilers aged 20 and 28 years left the building. These are being replaced with two Froling P4 105 pellet boilers with individual rated outputs of 105kw each.
Never simple!
This required considerable planning and muscle power. Floorboards were carefully removed by National Trust carpenters and the old boilers were winched from the basement through a hole in the floor by our contractors Dunster Biomass Heating Ltd.
This is great progress towards achieving our ambitions to get off oil and not only does it reduce our reliance on fossil fuel but also removes the risk of contamination in sensitive locations.”
