It has been a little bit “full on” over the course of the last few weeks finalising preparations, paperwork and permits for the project.I realised that I have not updated you all on progress so here’s where we are.
Planning permission has been approved, as has the marine permitting. Easement to The Crown Estate is being finalised. Trees surveys, bat surveys, listed building consent, dive survey, sea bed analysis, contracts…… All completed.
Most excitingly for me – Preparation work has been completed on the restoration of the marine walk, in order that contractors gain safe access and egress to the pumphouse on the foreshore.

Also today I went to see the results of the recent tree surgery work. This work was undertaken under the watchful eye of Alison our Bat specialist who was on hand to ensure works were completed as per the survey analysis recommendations.
The purpose was two-fold:To clear as limited a space in the treeline in order that the pumphouse can be craned into place on the marine walk. We originally thought that we would have to remove one particularly impressive Oak tree completely, but conversations with our contractor Kimpton has allowed us to keep the Oak with only the removal of a decayed limb. In this way we gain sufficient access whilst reducing the amount of invasive works.

By removing the decayed limb we also succeed in once again opening up one of the properties historic viewpoints along the Menai strait to the Britannia Bridge.

There is a little bit of tidying left to do, but after years in the planning, its fantastic to finally get underway. Will keep you posted.
